#MTOS 3rd August 2014 - MOVIE GEEK

Be honest with yourself, you’re a MOVIE GEEK

How do I know? Well, you’re visiting a blog you don’t regularly frequent so you can check out questions just so that you can take part in a weekly online chat with a group of people, most of which you’ve never met before, about a given film topic.
At school I was unkindly labelled a GEEK due to my slightly eccentric take on the world around me and my over enthusiastic, slightly obsessive, approach to certain non-mainstream interests.
Now I’m all grown up the term GEEK is a badge of honour, it’s cool to let your GEEK flag fly and there’s no prouder bunch than the MOVIE GEEKS.

So, this week’s #MTOS is all about sharing what makes you as a MOVIE GEEK tick, here are the ten questions for this week’s ‘Movie Talk On Sunday’;

Q1. How do people know that you’re a MOVIE GEEK? #MTOS

Q2. Do you keep a record / log the films you watch? How? Why? #MTOS

Q3. Stars, out of ten, grades … Do you rate the films you watch? What’s your system? #MTOS

Q4. What’s the current state of your movie collection? If you can, share some photos of it #MTOS

Q5. What’s the most number of films you’ve watched in one day? Can you remember what they were? #MTOS

Q6. What has been your most momentous movie watching experience? #MTOS

Q7. What’s the greatest length you’ve gone to in order to celebrate your love of a movie / cinema in general? #MTOS

Q8. You’ve been asked to appear on ‘Movie Mastermind’, what’s your chosen specialist subject and how would you perform? #MTOS

Q9. What line from a movie do you use most often in everyday conversation? #MTOS

Q10. What’s your best kept ‘movie secret’ that as fellow MOVIE GEEKS we deserve to hear about? #MTOS

I will post a question every 10 minutes starting at 20:00 GMT on Sunday, 3rd of August. Make sure you are following me on Twitter @TGP73 and answer your questions with an “A” and question number and add the #MTOS hashtag at the end.

For example my answer for Question #1 would be:

A1. On first meeting me by tee-shirt, on getting to know me by the fact I can’t discuss TV and on visiting my house by the collection #MTOS
Then just do a search on #MTOS and follow along the fun and hijinx. Feel free to RT (Retweet) the answers you like or agree with and reply to any answers you wish. Debates are encouraged but please ensure they are of the civilized kind. It’s all about having fun and sharing your thoughts with fellow MOVIE GEEKS like yourself. Also feel free to invite your followers along and post a link to this page so you can all get your answers ready.

The best answer to Q7 as decided by the host will win a Smartphone Projector as seen here… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ze3Wgi-imlw

Also feel free to invite your followers along and post a link to this page so you can all get your answers ready.

#MTOS The Films Of Pixar

I have thoroughly enjoyed all four times that I have hosted Movie Talk On Sunday and when given the opportunity to do it all again I jumped at the chance … this time I’m bringing a bit of magic into your Sunday night as I start a conversation about the films of Pixar. Pixar began in 1979 as the Graphics Group, part of the computer division of Lucasfilm, it was bought by Apple in 1986 and then again by The Walt Disney Company bought Pixar in 2006 (who then of course bought Lucasfilm bringing it full circle).

Pixar has produced fourteen feature films, beginning with Toy Story in 1995 and the studio has also produced several short films. As of July 2013, its feature films have made over $8.2 billion worldwide, with an average worldwide gross of $596 million per film. The studio has earned 27 Academy Awards, seven Golden Globe Awards, and eleven Grammy Awards, among many other awards and acknowledgments.

If you’re a Disney fanatic (like my good lady wife) then this is the #MTOS you’ve been waiting for and even if you’re not getting a Woody at the prospect I’m sure you’ll have seen a good number of the Pixar films and are sure to have opinions to bring to the Twitter table.

Here are the ten questions for this week’s ‘Movie Talk On Sunday’;

Q1. A nice easy one to start with, which feature film is Pixar’s best? #MTOS

Q2. The Pixar universe is filled with a vast array of colourful characters, who’s your favourite and why? #MTOS

Q3. Many talents have lent their voice to Pixar characters, who’s given the best vocal performance? #MTOS

Q4. Toy Story 3, Cars 2, Monsters Uni, Finding Dory … should Pixar be doing so many sequel / prequels? Discuss… #MTOS

Q5. Pixar are equally renowned for the theatrical short films which often precede their main features, which is your favourite & why? #MTOS

Q6. Pixar films wouldn’t be the same without music, which is more important to you? Newman penned songs or rousing Giacchino scores #MTOS

Q7. 7 Pixar feature films have won Best Animated Feature Film at the Oscars, which was least deserving and why? #MTOS

Q8. If you haven’t cried at some point during a Pixar film then you’re dead inside, what’s that one moment that makes you blubber? #MTOS

Q9. Cheers favourite, John Ratzenberger has played a voice part in every Pixar feature film made to date, which one’s been his best? #MTOS

Q10. Toy Story is the best film ‘trilogy’ ever. If you agree with this statement convince me, if you don’t which Trilogy beats it? #MTOS
I will post a question every 10 minutes starting at 20:00 GMT on Sunday, 4th of August. Make sure you are following me on Twitter @TGP73 and answer your questions with an “A” and question number and add the #MTOS hashtag at the end.
For example my answer for Question #1 would be:

A1. Ratatouille ... a film that improves with every watch and always succeeds in making me hungry #MTOS

Then just do a search on #MTOS and follow along the fun and hijinx. Feel free to RT (Retweet) the answers you like or agree with and reply to any answers you wish. Debate is fine (your master made you this collar so you may speak!) but please keep it civilised (be a nice shark … not a mindless eating machine!). It’s all about having fun and sharing your thoughts with fellow movie lovers like yourself. Also feel free to invite your followers along and post a link to this page so you can all get your answers ready.

The best answer to Q2 as decided by the host will win a copy of their choice of Pixar film on Blu-Ray or DVD (subject to availability
